Should I activate Digital Editions anonymously or with an Adobe ID?
If you activate Adobe Digital Editions using an Adobe ID you can do more with eBooks, such as downloading them to up to 3 computers and 3 portable devices that use the same ID. If you use anonymous activation, you will only be able to read a downloaded Adobe eBook on that device.
You can activate using an Adobe ID at any time. However, if you activate Adobe Digital Editions with a different ID than you have already used, the eBooks you downloaded while using anonymous activation may no longer work.
To activate Adobe Digital Editions:

- Open Adobe Digital Editions.
- The Setup Assistant dialog box is displayed: Click 'Continue'.
- The Authorize Computer screen is displayed.
- Enter your Adobe ID (email address) and password.
- If needed, get an Adobe ID --or-- 'Don't Authorize Computer'.
- Click 'Activate'.
- Your computer is activated to your Adobe ID: Click 'Finish'.

To deactivate Adobe Digital Editions

- Open Adobe Digital Editions.
- Press Control-Shift-D (Command-Shift-D on a Mac)

To deactivate an E-reader in Adobe Digital Editions

- Open Adobe Digital Editions.
- Press Control-Shift-E (Command-Shift-E on a Mac)
